Bedford landscaping company guilty of underpaying employees
BEDFORD – Landscaping company Ulster Property Services, LLC recently paid $310,193 in back wages and liquidated damages to nearly 60 of its employees. According to the Wage and Hour Division of the U.S. Department of Labor, the company, owned by Kieran Rice, violated the Fair Labor Standards Act by failing to meet the requirements for overtime, minimum wage, child labor and recordkeeping. The investigation revealed that 59 employees did not receive their overtime rate and one employee was not paid at all. In addition, the company allowed a 17-year-old employee to work as a driver despite not having a valid driver’s license.
