Nashua man accused of causing fatal crash

NASHUA – George Palazzo, Jr., 53, of Old Coach Road in Nashua, has been charged in connection with the fatal crash that occurred on Sept. 17 at 139 Daniel Webster Hwy.

First responders arrived on the scene at 2:59 p..m. According to police, Palazzo, who was driving a Chevy Silverado, crossed over the median and struck a Replica Rowe motorcycle in a head-on collision. The riders of the motorcycle, Anthony Clayton, 68, and Sayira Muriel, 51, both of Massachusetts, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Palazzo’s vehicle also caught on fire as a result of the collision.

While at the scene, officers observed that Palazzo was under the influence of alcohol and was taken into custody. According to court documents, Palazzo told police that he had three mai tai cocktails at the Lilac Blossom and two margaritas at La Hacienda Del Rio.

Palazzo was taken to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center where he was treated for minor injuries. He was then taken to the Hillsborough County House of Corrections in Manchester and was held on preventative detention. Palazzo was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and was arraigned at Hillsborough County Superior Court-South on Sept. 18.

Under state law, if convicted, Palazzo could face up to seven years in prison, up to five years probation and a $4,000 fine.
