Former Nashua man sentenced for transporting $2M of stolen Apple products

NASHUA – Guangwei Wu, 31, formerly of Nashua, was recently sentenced to one year in prison, one year of supervised release and a $10,000 fine for his involvement in transporting stolen Apple products worth an estimated $2 million.

According to court documents, Wu was the owner and operator of Hai Xing Qiao, a transshipping company in Manchester.

In the fall of 2022, an unidentified “victim company” purchased a myriad of Apple products including iPads, iPhones, Apple Watches and Macbooks. Wu’s company was then hired by the victim company to ship the products to Hong Kong.

During the shipping process, Yongfu Huo, another company based in Hong Kong, paid Wu a bribe of more than $700,000 to have the products rerouted to them instead. In an attempt to stay out of trouble, Wu claimed that “law enforcement had seized the Apple products and sent the victim company a false document titled Disclaimer of Ownership purportedly issued by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.” It was later discovered that Wu had forged a federal agent’s signature on the disclaimer document.

“The defendant engaged in a sophisticated fraud scheme where he accepted a bribe of significant value, diverted shipments of stolen Apple products worth approximately $2 million and then forged a federal agent’s signature to cover his tracks. These are serious offenses,” said U.S. Attorney Jane Young. “The Court’s imposed sentence of incarceration in federal prison and full restitution are just consequences for his bold crimes.”
