NASHUA – Shane Niven, 33, of Nashua, plead guilty on April 10 to being in possession of child sexual abuse material.

According to federal authorities, child sexual abuse material was found on Niven’s electronic devices. He is already a registered sex offender following a prior conviction involving the possession of such images.

Niven was identified through a series of tips received by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. According to authorities, Niven’s home IP address was used on two occasions to “share hundreds of files of suspected CSAM” with online users.

Niven has since been charged with one count of possession of child pornography. Under federal law, he faces up to 20 years in prison, supervised release for a minimum of five years and a fine of $250,000.

Sentencing is scheduled for July 16.
