Teen charged with robbing Nashua postal worker at gunpoint
NASHUA – Baraka Janvier, 18, of Lowell, Mass., was taken into police custody on April 17 in connection with the armed robbery of a U.S. postal worker.
According to Nashua Police, officers responded to Blacksmith Way on April 16 after receiving a report of a robbery involving a firearm.
The male victim, whose identity has not been released, allegedly told officers that Janvier had held him at gunpoint.
“Janvier demanded the victim’s postal keys, which grants access to every mail dispenser in the city of Nashua,” said Sgt. John Cinelli, spokesperson for the Police Department.
Detectives interviewed a number of witnesses and reviewed video surveillance of the incident. According to police, two other suspects were also involved; however, no other arrests have been made.
Janvier turned himself in the following day and was charged with robbery.
He was held on preventative detention at the Hillsborough County Department of Corrections and was scheduled to be arraigned at the Ninth Circuit Nashua District Division Court on April 18.
Under state law, should he be convicted, Janvier could face up to 15 years in prison, up to five years of probation and a $4,000 fine.
