New Hampshire Philharmonic Orchestra launches 2024-2025 season

SALEM – The New Hampshire Philharmonic Orchestra recently announced the launch of its 2024-2025 season, marking a century since the premiere of George Gershwin’s iconic “Rhapsody in Blue.”

This milestone season will feature a special premier performance of “Rhapsody in Red, White, and Blue,” a homage composed by Grammy-nominated composer Peter Boyer, in collaboration with acclaimed Steinway artist Jeffrey Biegel.

As part of the celebrations, the New Hampshire Philharmonic Orchestra has the honor of presenting the state’s premiere performance of “Rhapsody in Red, White, and Blue,” a vibrant new work that captures the spirit of Gershwin’s original masterpiece while infusing it with contemporary flair. The concert is scheduled for October 26-27 at the Seifert Performing Arts Center, 44 Geremonty Dr. in Salem and promises to be a highlight of the season, celebrating American music and innovation.

During the next three years, orchestras across all 50 states will have the opportunity to perform this new composition, making each performance a unique celebration of American culture and artistry. The New Hampshire Philharmonic Orchestra is proud to be chosen to perform the premiere performance of this amazing piece, showcasing local talent and the enduring legacy of Gershwin’s work.

“We are excited to commemorate the centennial of such an influential piece in American music history,” said Music Director Mark Latham. “Peter Boyer’s composition beautifully bridges the past and present, and we can’t wait to share this innovative work with our audience.”
