Bedford teen charged after 130 mph sprint down I-93
WINDHAM – Nathan Pratte, 19, of Bedford, was stopped by State Police on the morning of July 28 after he was allegedly observed traveling at a blistering 130 miles per hour on Interstate 93.
According to police, Pratte was initially spotted in Derry at 7:01 a.m. traveling south at an “extremely high rate of speed.” He was also reportedly observed “passing vehicles on the right and weaving in and out of traffic.”
As Pratte proceeded south into Windham, police clocked his speed at more than 100 mph on four occasions.
Pratte was subsequently charged with reckless driving and is scheduled to appear in Salem District Court on Sept. 19.
Under state law, if convicted, Pratte could be fined at least $500, have his license suspended for 60 days and receive six demerit points which could remain on his driving record for five years.
According to police, Pratte was just one of the 50 motorists who were stopped during a traffic enforcement initiative. Twenty-five drivers were clocked at 90 mph or greater while four others were observed traveling above 100 mph. Three of them have been ordered to appear in court.
