Nashua man charged with assault at homeless encampment
NASHUA – Eric Baker, 41, of Nashua, was arrested on Aug. 16 in connection with an assault at a homeless encampment near Pine Street Extension.
According to Nashua Police, the incident occurred on Aug. 10 when officers found a 54-year-old male victim who had suffered numerous injuries including several broken bones. The victim, whose identity was not released, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
When police located Baker, he reportedly fled from officers in an effort to avoid arrest.
He was later taken into custody and charged with second degree assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest.
Baker was held on $500 cash bail and was scheduled to be arraigned in Nashua District Court on Aug. 19.
Under state law, if convicted, Baker could face up to eight years in prison and up to $6,000 in fines.
