Hassan visits new affordable housing development in Nashua
NASHUA – U.S. Sen. Maggie Hassan recently toured The Apartments at 249 Main, a new NeighborWorks Southern New Hampshire affordable housing development in Nashua.
The development was built with federal funding and featured 45 units, which became available to tenants at the end of September.
“New Hampshire’s housing shortage is hurting families trying to make ends meet and it is hurting businesses by preventing them from recruiting the workers that they need,” said Hassan. “NeighborWorks Southern New Hampshire is doing important work to address the housing shortage in New Hampshire with affordable housing developments like The Apartments at 249 Main. This project will help more Granite Staters access safe, affordable housing and will strengthen the local economy.”
The apartments were built in part using federal funding, including the Low Income Housing Tax Credit, which Hassan is working to expand. Hassan recently visited another NeighborWorks Southern New Hampshire project, the RENEW II project, a renovation in downtown Manchester that contains 101 residential units that were updated using the LIHTC to ensure that the units stay affordable.
