NASHUA – Gate City Casino, on Oct. 6, concluded the largest buy-in poker tournament in the history of the state.

The tournament, which fielded some of its entries from satellite events held in September and October, included 95 entries and a prize pool of $190,000.

“A lot of work went into this monumental event, and we were honored to host it,” said John Michaud, tournament director at Gate City Casino. “The future of poker in New Hampshire is exciting, and we look forward to continuing to drive its growth.”

Recent legislative changes were made by the state to allow poker tournaments with larger buy-in and prize pool amounts.

“Poker is alive and well in New Hampshire and our team at Gate City Casino continues to innovate and find new ways to expand our reach in the poker community,” said Jeffrey Smith, director of gaming at Gate City Casino.

The High Roller poker tournament continues to build on the momentum Gate City Casino has experienced over the last two years since being acquired by Delaware North. The company has made significant investments in the property, including a property rebrand and expansion, leading it to become a regional gaming destination as well as the addition of new gaming machines and a DraftKings sportsbook.

Delaware North employs about 350 people in Nashua at Gate City Casino and the company’s nearby Sheraton Nashua location. Gate City Casino is the longest standing charitable casino in the area, contributing more than $25 million to local charitable organizations since 2016.
