Boys & Girls Club celebrates opening of Gupta Family Cafe
NASHUA – As part of its Power of YOUth capital campaign, the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua celebrated the opening of its renovated kitchen, the Gupta Family Cafe, on Nov. 18.
The new kitchen will allow the club to bolster its food service from 45,000 meals per year to more than 75,000 meals per year. The increased service will be provided at no additional cost to families.
“We are so excited to open the Gupta Family Cafe and expand our capacity to feed more youth in Nashua,” said Craig Fitzgerald, executive director of BGCN. “This new kitchen will not only allow us to increase the number of meals we serve, but it will also enable us to offer healthier, more nutritious food to our members, empowering them to make better lifestyle choices.”
The kitchen is named after Kedar and Renu Gupta of the Gupta Family Foundation, who were instrumental in funding the project. The improvements have tripled the kitchen’s preparation and storage spaces and will allow it to become a hub for nutrition education.
“When you mix food and education, it does wonders,” said the Guptas.
The opening of the Gupta Family Cafe is the first major accomplishment in the $10 million Power of YOUth campaign, which was launched last year. The campaign targets the need for expanded childcare, food security and mental health services.
“We are thrilled to unveil the fully renovated kitchen, a shining testament to the dedication and generosity of our supporters,” said Mary Jane King, chairwoman of the Capital Campaign. “We couldn’t do this without the unwavering support of our community, and look forward to the projects to come.”
