NASHUA – More than 40,000 residents are expected to flood Main Street once again this year for the city’s 29th annual Winter Holiday Stroll.

The event began in 1995 with a small group of Nashuans walking by candlelight from City Hall to the Hunt Memorial Building.

Nearly three decades later, the Holiday Stroll takes tens of thousands of residents from City Hall to Library Hill where Nashua’s Christmas tree is lit, marking the beginning of the holiday season.

Per tradition, Santa Claus will lead the Holiday Stroll down Main Street and will join Mayor James Donchess in the big countdown to lighting the Christmas tree.

Residents are asked to gather outside City Hall, 229 Main St. at 4 p.m. as the Holiday Stroll will begin at 5 p.m.

New this year is the Artist and Artisans Holiday Bazaar and open air market featuring a variety of local products and art.

There will also be three sets of music and more than 10 stages throughout downtown. Maps will be available so residents can explore all night. Stop by to visit the numerous food vendors selling a variety of tasty treats, artisan vendors selling their products, characters roaming Main Street and carnival games.
