NASHUA – Alexander Aponte, 42, of Nashua, was taken into custody on Jan. 10 on a felony warrant for drug and gun charges.

According to the Nashua Police Department, the warrant stemmed from an incident on Aug. 21, 2024 when officers responded to Sullivan Park after receiving reports of gunshots.

Upon arrival, police found that Aponte had been shot in the leg. While he was being treated, officers spoke with witnesses about a physical confrontation which ended when Aponte was shot. Two guns were allegedly used to fire nine bullets during the confrontation.

After further investigation, police learned that Aponte and an unidentified woman that he knew devised a plan to confront a group of juveniles at Sullivan Park. At the time, the woman had a restraining order against Aponte. He was also wanted by Nashua Police for drug-related charges.

Aponte has been charged with possession of a controlled drug, riot with a deadly weapon and violation of a protective order.

He was held without bail and was scheduled to be arraigned in Nashua District Court on Jan. 13.

Under state law, if convicted, Aponte could face up to 23 years in prison, up to 10 years of probation and up to $10,000 in fines.
