Hudson man nabbed on drug charges in Massachusetts

READING, Mass. – Daniel Devlin, 41, of Hudson, was taken into custody on Jan. 20 for drug possession and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs.
According to the Reading, Mass. Police Department, officers observed Devlin stopped in the middle of the road at approximately 10:15 p.m.
Once Devlin continued driving, police allegedly found him to be driving in an erratic manner and pulled him over.
While speaking with Devlin, officers reportedly noticed that his pupils were smaller than normal, suggesting possible drug use. They also saw him reaching into the back of the vehicle several times and holding an unidentified object.
Devlin reportedly had trouble keeping his balance when police asked him to get out of the vehicle.
While searching Devlin’s vehicle, officers reportedly found “residue of a brown powdery substance and a capped needle with a brown-like liquid both believed to be heroin and an 8 mg film of Suboxone.”
The results of the field sobriety tests indicated that Devlin was under the influence of drugs and he was arrested without incident.
Devlin has been charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs, possession of Class A and Class E substances as well as a marked lanes violation.
He was arraigned in Woburn, Mass. District Court on Jan. 21.
Under Massachusetts state law, if convicted, Devlin could face up to five years in prison and up to $9,600 in fines.
