Rivier University to launch Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program

NASHUA – Rivier University recently announced the upcoming launch of its Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, a fast-track designed for individuals who have already earned a Bachelor’s degree in another discipline and are seeking an expedited route to a nursing career in as little as 16 months.
The new program offers a rigorous yet efficient pathway to becoming a registered nurse, addressing the critical demand for qualified nurses, both locally and nationally.
“The launch of our accelerated bachelor’s program is a direct response to the urgent need for skilled nurses in the healthcare industry,” said Rivier President Sister Paula Marie Buley, IHM. “With the projected retirement of nearly 900,000 nurses by 2027 and the increasing demand for healthcare professionals, this program provides a timely and effective solution for individuals eager to transition into the nursing profession.”
The ABSN program maintains the same high standards, accreditation and educational outcomes as Rivier’s traditional four-year program. By leveraging their prior academic achievements, students can complete their nursing education in a shorter time frame without compromising quality or rigor.
Graduates of the program will be eligible to apply for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses, preparing them for immediate entry into the workforce. Nursing lab science and clinical courses are conducted on campus, while other courses are available online for added flexibility.
“The ABSN program at Rivier will provide an expedient route for individuals who desire a career change into nursing,” said Dr. Paula Williams, dean of Nursing and Health Professions. “With a rigorous curriculum, hands-on clinical training, and dedicated faculty support, our students graduate with the expertise and compassionate approach needed to provide high-quality patient care in diverse healthcare settings.”
Rivier is currently enrolling students in the ABSN program, which will be up and running for the fall 2025 semester. Additional program information is available at rivier.edu/ABSN.
