LONDONDERRY – Calvin Ly-Bishop, 23, formerly of Bedford, was allegedly killed in a gunfight with Londonderry Police officers on Feb. 26.

According to the Londonderry Police Department, officers responded to Planet Fitness at 4 Orchard View Dr. for a report of a single gunshot.

Although Ly-Bishop managed to flee the scene before officers arrived, he was found in his vehicle about a half-mile away near the intersection of Winding Pond Road and Lincoln Drive.

As police approached the vehicle, Ly-Bishop reportedly got out of the car and began shooting at the officers. According to police, three officers returned fire. Ly-Bishop was hit in the chest during the exchange and died at the scene despite efforts to save his life.

The incident continues to be investigated by the State Police and the state Department of Justice. The names of the officers involved will be released within the next two weeks.
