Nashua machine shop is on the move

By Staff | Oct 1, 2013

NASHUA – A machine shop “bursting at the seams” in a Lake Street mill building is moving to its own building on West Otterson Street.

REO Machining, which has operated for a dozen years in its current location, recently bought the 2 West Otterson St. building that formerly held a different machine shop. The company hopes to move by mid-November, said John Rioux, who with his brother Paul owns REO Machining.

“We’re bursting at the seams here,” he said of the firm’s 1,800-square-foot business condo in the 51 Lake St. mill building.

The new home is about 8,400 square feet, providing room for future expansion, Rioux said.

The firm, whose name is a variant of the Rioux brother’s last name, does work for a variety of clients, including BAE systems and companies in other parts of the country and worldwide.

The building was in the news last year when Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter tried to move there, only to have the change-of-use rejected by the city planning board after neighbors complained.

According to the Hillsborough County Registry of Deeds, the selling price was $335,000. The sale was handled by Prolman Realty Inc.
