By Staff | Nov 1, 2024

LEBANON – Several Dartmouth Health employees and board members were recently recognized at the New Hampshire Hospital Association’s (NHHA) annual meeting. Held at the Omni Mount Washington Resort in Bretton Woods on October 20-22, Dartmouth Health CEO and president Joanne M. Conroy, MD, presided as the meeting’s keynote speaker.

“Here in New Hampshire, hospitals and health systems are the state’s bedrock in changing times,” Conroy said. “Hospitals and health systems collectively drive the well-being of individuals, families, communities and businesses across New Hampshire and New England. Spending by medical schools and teaching hospitals in New Hampshire supports 22,420 jobs and contributes $2.17 billion to New Hampshire’s economy. Our impact cannot be overstated. Every one of our hospitals and health systems are the cornerstones of our communities and, despite the ever-changing landscape, our ongoing commitment to public health is unwavering.”

The following Dartmouth Health staff and trustees were recognized at the meeting:

• John T. Broderick Jr., Dartmouth Health’s senior director of external affairs, received the Lifetime Achievement Award. Before entering public service, Broderick was a civil trial lawyer in private practice for over 20 years. He was a member of the New Hampshire Supreme Court from 1995 to 2010, serving the last seven years as its chief justice. He created the first ever business court, and expanded family court, mental health court and drug court dockets across the state. Through his work at Dartmouth Health, Broderick works to change the conversation around mental illness in New Hampshire, the region and across the country, describing it as the most meaningful work he has done in his career.

• Patrick R. Hattan, MD, a Dartmouth Health psychiatrist who serves as associate medical director for New Hampshire Hospital, received the Medical Staff Award for outstanding service to his hospital and community. This award is bestowed upon a medical staff member whose professional performance has strengthened the cooperation between the hospital and the medical staff and who brings credit to the institution and the community.

• Charles G. Plimpton, MBA, treasurer of the Dartmouth-Hitchcock/Dartmouth Health Boards, secretary of the Dartmouth Health Board and chair of the Finance and Development Committees, was recognized with the Outstanding Trustee of the Year Award. This award is presented to a trustee of a NHHA member institution whose achievement in the field of hospital trusteeship stands out above all others, and who serves as an example to encourage others in the pursuit of excellence in hospital governance.

• Susan A. Reeves, EdD, RN, CENP, Dartmouth Health’s chief nursing executive, was elected NHHA’s board of trustees chair.

Tom Manion, MPA, chief operating officer of Dartmouth Health’s Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, was reelected to another two-year term on NHHA’s board of trustees.

“It was our honor and privilege to recognize the ongoing efforts and leadership of these extraordinary individuals, as they strive to make improvements in healthcare access, quality and services to support their patients, staff and communities,” said NHHA president Steve Ahnen.
