Son of Hudson police chief charged

Child pornography arraignment in May

By Damien Fisher - Staff Writer | Apr 28, 2018

CONCORD – The son of Hudson’s police chief faces federal charges for allegedly possessing hundreds of pieces of child pornography.

Tyler Lavoie, 20, is due to be arraigned in the U.S. District Court in Concord on May 10 for charges he was in possession of child pornography. Lavoie, son of Hudson Police Chief Jason Lavoie, initially tried to tell federal investigators he was acting as an “cyber vigilante,” but later admitted he enjoyed looking at the images and videos.

Lavoie was arrested earlier this year after an investigation which began in 2016. He reportedly told investigators he started seeing child pornography on the internet as far back as 2012, when people he communicated with online shared the images with him.

Lavoie claims he initially reported those images and acted to keep child pornography off the internet. When investigators reminded him to be honest, his story changed.

“Lavoie’s demeanor changed and he responded by saying that the cyber vigilante thing was not complete (deleted),” FBI Special Agent Scott

McGaunn’s affidavit states. “Lavoie stated that there was some truth to his claim of being a cyber vigilante, but that over time, he started to enjoy looking at child pornography whereupon he spiraled out of control and downloaded thousands of child pornography files to view. Lavoie admitted that he sent child pornography internet links to other people to get those people to send him child pornography files in exchange.”

Investigators allegedly found more than 200 child porn images, and close to 150 videos, on Lavoie’s digital devices.
