NASHUA – The office of Mayor Jim Donchess has announced a 3.9% increase in property taxes for fiscal 2021.

The new rate as set by the state Department of Revenue Administration is $22.61 per thousand valuation, which is up 85 cents, or 3.9%, from the previous rate.

With the new rate, the owner of a home assessed at $250,000 will pay $5,652 in the coming year, an increase of $212 for the year, while the owner of a home assessed at $350,000 will pay $7,913 this coming year, an increase of $297 for the year.

City officials said there are two significant factors that contributed to the increase – the rise in healthcare costs for city employees at the rate of $3 million per year, and anticipated lost revenues stemming from disruptions caused by the COVID-19 virus.
