Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office promotes, recognizes employees

During a recent ceremony, Hillsborough County Sheriff Chris Connelly promoted three individuals and recognized several other employees of the sheriff’s office.

Scott DiGaetano and Michael Molloy were promoted to the rank of lieutenant. DiGaetano has been with the agency since 2003 and Molloy since 2005.

Christopher Follomon, who joined the agency in 2001, was promoted to the rank of sergeant. Juliane Wigsten was sworn in as a deputy sheriff and Aaron Backus, the agency’s newest emergency communications specialist, was welcomed to the agency.

In addition to the promotions, Connelly also awarded two life-saving medals and recognized three recently retired members of the agency.

Lt. Matthew Estey and Deputy Thomas Burke IV received the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Life-Saving Medal. Estey was awarded the medal for actions he took to evacuate individuals from a structure fire on Lowell Street in Manchester on March 31. Burke was awarded the medal for actions he took to extricate drivers from two burning vehicles that had been involved in a head-on crash on Route 125 in Barrington on April 22.

Connelly also recognized three recently retired members of the agency. Retired Sheriff James Hardy was recognized for 40 years of law enforcement service, the last 18 of which were as the Hillsborough County Sheriff. Lt. Matthew Estey was recognized for more than 24 years of service with the sheriff’s office. Lt. Wayne Shields also was recognized for more than 21 years of service with the sheriff’s office.
