Litchfield residence scene of overnight home invasion; suspect captured, faces multiple felony charges
LITCHFIELD — State police Major Crime Unit detectives joined Litchfield police Wednesday morning at the scene of a reported home invasion at 10 Evergreen Circle, a large, colonial-style residence in the northern part of town.
The investigation led to the arrest of Ian Morris, a 25-year-old resident of Jaffrey, who was taken into custody sometime Wednesday and charged with an assortment of felony offenses.
Morris was booked on the charges and later jailed pending his arraignment, which is currently scheduled to take place either today or Friday in Hillsborough County Superior Court South in Nashua.
The charges filed against Morris include one count of attempt to commit murder; two counts each of first-degree assault and second-degree assault; and one count each of kidnapping and burglary.
Police said in a statement that officers, along with ambulance personnel from Hudson, were called to the home around midnight for a report of a possible assault.
Police advised the medics to wait down the street until they determined it was safe to enter. The medics were called in a short time later, indicating there was someone in the house with injuries.
Police didn’t say how many people were in the house, but indications are that one person was treated by the medics.
Whether the person, who wasn’t identified, was taken to a hospital is unknown.
Litchfield detectives and state police investigators worked at the scene throughout Wednesday, coming and going from the house and the state police Major Crimes Unit, which was parked in the driveway.
Police didn’t elaborate on the connection, if any, between Morris and the person or people in the house.
