NASHUA — An autopsy conducted on the body of the man found deceased Friday in woods off Baldwin Street indicates he died of natural causes, according to Nashua police Lt. Scott Hudon.

The location where the body was found is a significant distance into the woods to the west of Baldwin Street and is not visible from the road.

Police didn’t issue a press release or post the incident online, Hudon said, because the investigation ruled out foul play, plus the fact that the man likely died of natural causes. Detectives also determined there was no threat to the public.

A resident of Fairmount Street who is familiar with the neighborhood said the area police appeared to be concentrating on has been fairly popular among the homeless population, some of whom have set up small encampments in the woods under the Veterans Memorial Parkway overpass.

Nashua police, firefighters and ambulance personnel converged on the area in the mid-afternoon hours Friday, according to residents who live nearby.

The first responders parked along Baldwin Street next to a large home that sits back off the street. Officers, firefighters and medics were seen walking into a wooded area to the west of Baldwin Street.

Firefighters and medics departed a short time later, and detectives joined uniformed officers at the scene.
