The driver, Farooq Aziz, suffered serious injuries and was flown to a Boston hospital for treatment.

MERRIMACK — Farooq Aziz, a Nashua resident believed to be the owner of “Go Auto Repair,” a high-performance car dealer and maintenance shop on East Hollis Street, suffered multiple, serious injuries, including burns, when the Nissan GT-R he was driving left the Everett Turnpike Saturday night, crashed into a large tree trunk and burst into flames, officials said.

State police said several passersby pulled over and together were able to rescue Aziz, 39, whose injuries were considered serious and life-threatening. The passersby rendered first aid until Merrimack firefighters and EMS personnel arrived moments after being dispatched just after 9 p.m.

Aziz was initially transported to Elliot Hospital in Manchester, then subsequently flown by medical helicopter to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, police said.

An update on Aziz’s condition wasn’t available Sunday.

Police said arriving Merrimack officers and troopers from Troop B barracks found a “heavily damaged” vehicle “fully engulfed with fire” just off the side of the Everett Turnpike southbound lanes at mile marker 14.2. which puts the scene between Exits 12 and 11.

Bystanders pulled the driver, Nashua resident Farooq Aziz, from the burning car, and he was transported to a Boston hospital in critical condition.

Police eventually identified the vehicle as a blue, 2013 Nissan GT-R,

described as a “high-performance sports car and grand tourer” produced by Nissan since 2007.

The base price of a new GT-R model, according to various websites that specialize in performance vehicles, starts at about $115,000. The car also boasts the ability to go from 0-60 mph in 3 seconds.

Police said all aspects of the crash remain under investigation, but that speed appears to be a factor in the crash.

They ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who has a dash camera and passed through the scene at the time or may have witnessed any “driving behaviors” in the moments leading up the crash, to contact Trooper Jonathan Janosz at jonathan.m.janosz@dos.nh.gov, or at 227-0039.
