MANCHESTER — Alexandra “Allie” Eckersley, the 26-year-old adoptive daughter of former Major League pitcher and Red Sox broadcaster Dennis Eckersley, was arrested on a felony reckless conduct charge after she reportedly gave birth in the woods at a homeless camp early this morning.

Eckersley, who has had previous scrapes with the law and has been homeless much of the time, allegedly gave birth in, or near, a makeshift tent in a homeless encampment near the West Side Arena, according to police reports.

An individual contacted authorities at about 12:40 a.m. to report a woman had given birth in that area. Police, firefighters and ambulance personnel searched the area, but didn’t locate the baby. After an hour of searching, Eckersley allegedly revealed the true location of the baby and led officers there, police said.
