DPW does weekly removal of items outside shelter, and attempts to clean up bus station
MANCHESTER – Since Christmas day when a woman was found dead in a tent outside a homeless shelter the tempers are flaring and the finger pointing of who is to blame has been non stop in New Hampshires largest city.
Two homeless individuals have been found dead, a woman gave premature birth to a child and the press releases continue to fly between city and state officials.
A heated aldermanic meeting on Tuesday ended with a non-public session after a legal debate was charged with emotion over removing tents from sidewalks.
Wednesday with Manchester Community Police officers supervising the operation several items were removed from outside the homeless shelter in an encampment that now has over 40 tents and about 60 people living in them.
The bus station at Granite and Canal Street, was cleaned up by Department of Public Works employees. Piles of trash, needles, human feces were removed from the ground.
