Special primary election set tomorrow for Ward 4 state representative seat
NASHUA — Voters in Nashua’s Ward 4 will go to the polls tomorrow, Tuesday, to choose the two candidates who will face off in the May 16 special election to decide who will fill the Ward 4 state representative seat left vacant by the resignation of former Democratic State Rep. Stacie-Marie Laughton.
Two political newcomers — Joost Baumeister, 121 W. Hollis St., and David M. Narkunas, 26 Broad St. — are seeking the Republican nomination, with the winner going up against former longtime Ward 4 alderman Marc W. Plamondon, who is running unopposed on the Democratic side of the ballot.
The polling place for both tomorrow’s primary and the May 16 general election will be at Ward 4’s regular location, the Ledge Street Elementary School, 139 Ledge St. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Baumeister, who ran in the November election for one of the three state representative seats that represents Ward 4 — which is Hillsborough District 3 — came in fourth behind current Democratic State Reps. David E. Cote, Fred E. Davis Jr. and Laughton.
Laughton, 38, would resign just weeks later, following her arrest by Nashua police on a warrant that Hudson police had issued in connection with alleged stalking offenses stemming from alleged incidents last summer and fall.
