Dead body discovered in Merrimack River has been recovered; investigation ongoing

(Photo by JEFFREY HASTINGS) A Nashua police modified pontoon boat equipped with a recovery platform was utilitized earlier today to recover the body of a man who was found floating in the Merrimack River. No foul play is suspected, police said.

NASHUA — The body of the deceased individual found late this morning floating in the Merrimack River in Nashua near the Eastbrook Drive neighborhood has been recovered, and authorities have begun an investigation, according to Nashua police Sgt. John Cinelli.

There were no signs of foul play, Cinelli said, adding that detectives are in the process of identifying the victim, who is reportedly a man.

Efforts to ID the man will be coordinated with representatives of the state Medical Examiner’s office, Cinelli said. An autopsy is pending.
