James Christos Pitarys

James Christos Pitarys, 85, of Nashua, NH, husband of Dorothy (Vrouhas) Pitarys, passed away on July 20, 2021. He was born on August 19, 1935 in Nashua, NH, son of the late Christos and Xenia (Tassios) Pitarys.

James was a native of Nashua, and loved living in New Hampshire. He cherished his home and the landscape. In fact he loved NH so much that when he looked out at the fields and forests he would call it God’s country.

A member of the National Poultry Association, he was a successful poultry farmer raising turkeys and chickens, and was vice president of the local chapter of Future Farmers of America. He was awarded Best Poultry Boy in New Hampshire in 1955 by the NEPPCO. He also had a great love for wildlife and conservation lands. James was a classic car enthusiast, carpenter, and businessman; he was the president of his family’s business, Pitarys Homes Inc. He was a very concerned, thoughtful, caring, lovable person with much compassion for the elderly and was always there to lend a hand.

His loving wife of 63 years, Dorothy, and his four children, Dr. Christos James Pitarys, Charles Matthew Pitarys, Marc James Pitarys, and Joanne Marie Pitarys, his grandchildren, Adam, Amber, James, Stephen, and Grant, and two great grandchildren, Jayson and Brendan, his brother, George Christos Pitarys and wife Fotene Pitarys survive him, along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews. His sister Diane Macenas, and brother Peter Pitarys predeceased him.

An hour of visitation will take place on Monday, July 26th from 10AM-11AM at St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church, 500 W. Hollis St. Nashua, with a funeral mass beginning at 11AM and burial will immediately follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Nashua, NH.
