On December 29, 1956, Irene married the love of her life and best friend, Ronald A. Jean, whom she had lived next door to since the age of 10. Their devotion, commitment and love for one another was the foundation for the life they built together. A life filled with love, laughter and children.
In 1974, Irene graduated from Rivier College with a BA in Early Childhood Education, and went on to earn a Master’s degree in Education from Fitchburg State College. Irene taught 5th and 6th grade over the course of 20 years at Matthew Thornton School in Londonderry, NH, before retiring in 1995.
Irene was a devout catholic and parishioner of St. John the XXIII Parish and sang in the choir. She has 5 grand-children, Brittany and her husband Brian Gagnon, Jessica Wright, Samantha McCarthy, Joel Jacobs and Katherine Holloran, and 6 great grand-children. One of Irene’s greatest joys was spending time with and spoiling her grand- children and great grand-children. You could often find her sitting on the floor with the kids playing tea-party or trains.
