Margaret Mary Bowker
The one and only beautiful Margaret Mary Bowker, 90 of Nashua, NH, better known as Peggy, passed away peacefully on the morning of January 8th, 2022. Peggy was born on March 18th, 1931, in Mineola, NY, to parents Margaret and Emil Tvrdik. Shortly after her birth, Merrick, NY became her childhood home. Peggy was the oldest of five, with four siblings, brother Emil and sisters Kathleen, Barbara and Janet.
Peggy attended Mepham High School in Bellmore, NY, where she met her lifelong sweetheart Dick at age 16. The two became inseparable. Peggy was active in the performing arts all throughout her high school years with the highly acclaimed Mepham High School Choir, under the direction of Walton Aldefer, and was selected to sing and perform with the exclusive Mepham nine-member vocal music ensemble.
Upon her graduation from Mepham High in 1948, Peggy and Dick were married on May 29th, 1949. Settling first in Seaford and then Merrick, NY. In 1954, the couple started a family. By 1961, Peggy and Dick had three children, Russell, Theron, and Amy.
During the years spent living in New York, Peggy was employed with the Bank of America in Manhattan, was actively involved with the PTA at the Smith Street Elementary School system of Merrick, a Cub Scout Leader, a parent cheerleader for Little League and a volunteer for the March of Dimes.
All throughout the years from the time Peggy and Dick met, spending summer days with friends on the Atlantic Ocean at Jones Beach and Point Lookout was a ritual for the two and became a family favorite. Family celebrations, gatherings, and reunions with grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends were a constant for Peggy and husband Dick during this special time living in New York.
In August of 1968, Peggy, Dick and their family moved to Amherst, NH. In 1971, Peggy received her residential real estate license and would spend the next forty-five years pursuing her passion, selling real estate and becoming a broker in 1974. She quickly became a superstar in the industry and was highly regarded be her customers and peers. Peggy was a natural. During her residential real estate pursuit, Peggy worked for such real estate firms as Meadow Brook Realty, Bowker Real Estate, Norwood Realty, Masiello Real Estate, At Home Realty, and ended her career by spending the last fifteen years with Keller Williams of Nashua, NH.
As a fun athletic outlet, Peggy pursued Jacki Sorenson’s aerobic dancing for thirty-seven years starting in 1972. Peggy also loved to travel with her husband Dick. Together the couple spent a lot of time on Cape Cod, traveled throughout the United States including Alaska. Peggy and Dick also journeyed throughout Canada, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and the Azores, a region of Portugal in the mid-Atlantic.
Peggy was active socially with her husband Dick on many tracks of their fifty years, living in New Hampshire. One of which was a forty-year social bowling group of twelve local couples. Together Peggy, Dick and the group planned social dinners, endless weekend destination trips, and home celebration parties. It was always a good time of fun, laughter and friendship for all. And yes, occasionally they went bowling!
Peggy and Dick were blessed to celebrate seventy years of marriage on May 29th, 2019. Having lost her lifelong sweetheart Dick in September of 2019, Peggy is survived by her children and family that include son Russell Bowker and wife Roberta of Manchester, CT, grandsons Christopher Bowker, Spencer Bowker, and Harrison Bowker, son Theron Bowker and wife Lisa of Weare, NH, grandson Jonathan Bowker and wife Michelle of Philadelphia, PA, grandson Timothy Bowker of Weare, NH, and daughter Amy Bowker presently of Amherst, NH.
Peggy was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and friend, bringing such warmth, spirit, fun and love to all that knew her and spent time with her. Peggy was an inspiration. She was contagious because she made us smile and laugh. She has left us with a beautiful impression. Peggy will be deeply missed, forever loved and remembered by all, and remains our leading lady in the story of our lives.
A beautiful celebration of Peggy’s life will be held at a later date into the end of spring, beginning of summer when the grass and trees are green, flowers are in bloom and warm sunshine is upon us.
