Richard F. ‘Doc’ Davis Jr.

Feb 4, 2022

Richard F. “Doc” Davis Jr., 69, lifelong resident of Nashua, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2022 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH. He was born in Nashua on October 29, 1952 to his late parents, Richard F. and Eleanor (Lynn) Davis, and graduated from Nashua High School with the Class of 1969.

After graduating from high school, like so many of his generation, Doc enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge, he returned home and starting working in a career that lasted many years. Doc worked in auto parts sales at several of the local dealers, finally retiring from New England Transit Sales. Itching to get out of the house after his retirement he took employment at Rivier University working in the cafeteria, where he was affectionately known as the “King of Crumbs”.

Doc was a selfless and generous man who was known for his amazing sense of humor and was self-described as a slave to fashion. He fashioned his own impromptu uniform for working at the college. As with any New England native, Doc was a devoted Boston sports fan who immensely enjoyed the outdoors: he was happy spending time at his camp in Conway, visiting the beach, golfing and fishing. He touched many lives in many circles and will fondly be loved, cherished and missed by all. Doc was a member and volunteer with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 483 and the American Legion James E. Coffey Post 3, both of Nashua. Doc and Darcy roasted pigs for many fundraisers.

Doc is survived by his beloved bride, Darcy Langdon Davis, with whom he shared over 22 years of marriage together. They were wed in a simple ceremony on March 19, 1999 in Las Vegas and having originally met in 1976, fate brought them together in 1988 and they’ve been inseparable ever since. Doc is also survived by his stepson, Scott David Elliot and his fiancée Ashley Gibbons of Pataskala, OH and their 9 dogs. He was the dear brother to Ron B. Davis and his wife Joyce of Newbury, NH and is the uncle to several nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and many cousins. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Joanne Langdon of Dover, NH; sisters-in-law, Kathi Davis of Boonton, NJ and Dawn Langdon of Dover, NH; and brother-in-law, Douglas Langdon and his wife, Gina of Barrington, NH. In addition to his parents, Doc was preceded in death by his brother, James R. Davis; and his father-in-law, David Langdon.

To honor Doc’s wishes, a graveside service with military rites will be held at the NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH in the late spring. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Doc’s memory to the Joe Andruzzi Foundation in memory to assist New England cancer patients and their families with much needed financial support. Gifts may be mailed to: Joe Andruzzi Foundation, 49 Plain Street, Suite 500, North Attleboro, MA 02760 or donate online at www.joeandruzzifoundation.org.
