George Lyle
AMHERST – On February 4th 2023, George Lyle, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away at the age of 83.
Born to George and Rose Lyle of Andover MA, George later proudly served his country and is a United States Air Force veteran. After his discharge from the USAF George met and married Carol, his wife of 64 years. They made Amherst their home where they have resided for the last fifty years.
During his lifetime, George enjoyed racing stock cars at numerous New England speedways, operating heavy equipment and was skilled in mechanics. He was an avid country music fan, loved classic cars and had an appreciation for wildlife.
During his professional career George worked for the NH state Highway Department where he developed his love for the state. He was later employed as a truck driver and lumber yard attendant by Reeds Ferry Lumber in Merrimack NH, where he was a devoted employee for 31 years.
George enjoyed life, meeting new people and with his magnetic personality he made friends easily. He was quick with a joke, a jack of all trades and always willing to help anyone in need. George’s kind heart and joyful presence will be missed by all who knew him.
George is preceded in death by his brother Kevin and survived by his loving wife Carol, his sisters Kathy and Rosanne, brother Robert, children George, Christine, Steve, Karen and Andrea, ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren who he cherished.
