Paul A. Sorensen

Paul A. Sorensen, age 91, of Nashua, died on March 15, 2023 at Southern NH Medical Center following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Joan M. (Niven) Sorensen, for 65 years prior to her passing on Dec. 14, 2021.

He was born in Winthrop, MA on October 1, 1931, son of the late John & Mary (McKenna) Sorensen. Paul served in the United States Marine Corps from 1950 until 1952.

Paul and Joan were foster parents to 18 children. Prior to his retirement, he worked as an aeronautical engineer in the aerospace development industry for many years. He retired from Trix Systems, and previously worked for Raytheon and TRW.

Paul and Joan enjoyed traveling, especially in Europe, spending the occasional month in Florida and taking leisurely drives through New England. Paul was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. He was a member the Marine Corps League, the American Legion, and the Society of Automotive Engineers.

He is survived by a daughter, Lynn Marie Gibson, of North Billerica MA, her children, Daniel, Brendan, Timothy and Monica; and daughter, Ann Marie Wingren, of Peabody MA, her son Joseph; five great-grandchildren Olivia, Grey, Maya, River and Theo; and several nieces and nephews. Paul was predeceased by his son James John Sorensen, a brother, John and twin sisters, Rachel and Karen.

SERVICES: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to his visitation from 9:30-10:30 AM on Thursday March 23, 2023 at The Davis Funeral Home, 1 Lock St., Nashua, NH 03064. Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 AM at the Parish of the Resurrection, 449 Broad St., Nashua, NH 03063. Interment with Military Honors at 2:00 PM at the NH State Veteran’s Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH.
