Sister Camillus Frechette

Sister Camillus (formerly Pauline) Frechette, a Sister of Mercy for 75 years, passed peacefully on April 20 at Warde Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Windham, New Hampshire.
A native of Exeter, New Hampshire, she was born on April 30, 1923, the daughter of the late Édouard and Donalda (Grandmont) Frechette. She was predeceased by her only sibling, her brother, Réal Paul Frechette in 2002.
Sister Camillus held a B.A. Degree in French and Elementary Education from Mount St. Mary College in Hooksett, New Hampshire, and a M.A. Degree in Religious Education from Emmanuel College, Boston, Massachusetts.
Her primary ministry as a Sister of Mercy was in education, teaching in Catholic elementary schools in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. For 35 years, she taught in Manchester, New Hampshire, at St. Joseph School, Our Lady of Perpetual Help School, St. Raphael School, St. Patrick School, St. Catherine School, and as Principal at Mt. St. Mary Day School.
Additionally, she taught in Concord at St. John School, St. Thomas Aquinas School in Derry, Holy Trinity School in Somersworth, St. Joseph School in Keene, and St. Patrick School in Portsmouth.
In Massachusetts, sister taught at St. Ann School and coordinated religious education programs at St. Ann Parish in Gloucester. For 15 years, she was an instructor at Castle College in Windham, New Hampshire, where in 1998, she received from the Board of Trustees a Certificate of Recognition for her Dedication to the College and Excellence in Teaching.
After 50 years in education, Sister Camillus continued her leadership and administrative skills as a supervisor/instructor at R&R Consultants in Canton, Massachusetts, as a data base manager at the Manchester Diocesan Office, and as a volunteer at Warde Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Windham, New Hampshire.
Sister Camillus is survived by her nephews Paul (Linda) and Donald (Tracy) Frechette, her niece, Ann (Ron) Emmons, and her grandnieces and grandnephews, Paula, Katie, Eric, Marc, and Patrick. She was predeceased by her niece Paula Stamper in 1983.
A wake will be held at Warde Rehabilitation and Nursing Center on June 3, 2023, from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford, New Hampshire.
