Peter-Jon Thompson

Jul 6, 2023

Peter-Jon Thompson, 68, of Concord, NH, passed away surrounded by family on July 1, 2023. He leaves behind his pride and joys; his loving wife, Cathy, of 36 years; his three children; Emily, Hannah and Alex; and his adored cats; Charlotte and Sophia.

On Saturday morning, you could find Peter on the little porch reading the Wall Street Journal and admiring the sounds of songbirds. In the afternoon, Peter, with his bright orange sweatshirt, watched the Auburn Tigers beat Bama (sometimes).

Peter’s love of music developed from a young age while listening to records with his dad. He would go on to play the sousaphone in the high school band and enjoyed tickling the ivories. Peter’s favorite band was The Beatles, always remarking on their beautiful harmonies, distinct lyrics and variety of instruments played throughout their career. Peter’s music infatuation extended to the physical form; license plates. He commemorated his love for Led Zeppelin by obtaining a vanity plate for every member of the band and countless other Beatles plates.

Peter was fascinated with all forms of history, he was sequentially reading a book about every U.S. President, having just started on the 25th President. His inquisitive mind and admiration for new information, motivated him to expand his knowledge through daily history facts. He was also the Wall Street Journal Quiz champion, beating his family’s score every single week.

Peter and Cathy loved living in New Hampshire, often taking day dates to enjoy one of their many favorite breakfast spots then driving up to the lakes region to people watch. Their love was founded on friendship, always referring to each other as their best friend. Peter adored his wife and his three children; enjoying when everyone was back together at the family home, belly laughing while eating a Sunday night dinner, cooked by him. He cherished spending time on the annual family trip to the mountains, swimming in the outdoor pool and watching his kids roll around in the snow.

Peter was passionately involved in the New Hampshire banking community and strived for excellence as the Senior Vice President of Commercial Lending at Northway Bank. His strong work ethic, integrity, and relationship building carried him through his professional career.

To The Beatles #1 Fan, we love you.

Members of his family include, his wife, Cathy (Roberts) Thompson, daughters, Emily and Hannah Thompson and son Alex Thompson, all of Concord. Peter is survived by his sister, Jill Gravel and husband Jerome, their children, Amy Gravel with husband Madison Jordan and son, David Gravel with wife, Alyssa. He is also survived by the loving and extended Roberts family. Peter was predeceased by his parents, Cynthia and David Thompson.

The family asks, if you are so moved, to consider a donation to the Bishop Brady Tuition Fund. Checks may be addressed to 25 Columbus Ave, Concord, NH 03301.

Services will be held at noon on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Christ the King Parish, with a graveside service at Blossom Hill, followed by a celebration of Peter’s life at his home.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Bennett Funeral Home of Concord. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.bennettfuneral.com for the family of Peter-Jon Thompson.
