Gertrude (Gert) Gagnon

Gertrude (Gert) Gagnon, 89, of Newport and formerly of Nashua, passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at Valley Regional Hospital in Claremont. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 29, 1933 and was the daughter of the late Odias and Helen Buteau (Therrien).

Gert grew up in Nashua and was educated in the Nashua schools. She worked at many jobs throughout her long life including health care, Sprague Electric and retail until her retirement in 2004. She enjoyed the Senior trips to the casinos with her friends, bingo, making puzzles, and country music. Gert was also a life long Red Sox fan.

She is survived by her children Judy Barton and husband Doug of Newport, Janet Butler and husband Stephen of Southampton MA, Gary Gagnon and wife Angie of Paige TX.; grandchildren Jennifer Butler, Corey Butler and wife Meghan; and two great grandchildren Elijah and Emilia Butler. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her former husband Gerald Gagnon; and brothers Alton Buteau and Robert Buteau.
