Susan Marie Crowley

Sep 1, 2023

Beloved wife, daughter, mother, and sister Susan Marie Crowley, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2023, at the age of sixty-five after several years of declining health. She was born in Albany, New York on August 12, 1958, to Donald and Mildred LaValley, and spent her early years in nearby Waterford. Shortly after high school graduation, she went on to spend most of her adult life in Nashua, New Hampshire, graduating from Nathaniel Hawthorne College with a degree in Sociology.

It was during college she met the incredibly handsome Paul Crowley and became his devoted wife for forty-two years. She spent many a day being a loving, stay at home mother to their two children, Erin and Joey, supporting Erin in her musical efforts and successful career as a highly sought after hairstylist, and Joey as he pursued his dream of playing baseball from both Little League to all through high school. It was as of late, she and Paul embarked on the journey of a lifetime, pulling up stakes in New Hampshire and starting over in the west, settling in Henderson, Nevada.

Sue enjoyed spending time with her family just chatting, playing board games, and her happy place was sitting on the beach listening to Journey with a strawberry daiquiri, sometimes accompanied by her mother as they would just listen to the waves and enjoy each other’s company, either at Hampton Beach or in Marco Island, Florida. She loved to get her hair and her nails done, and liked to go to the movies and concerts with Paul by her side as she would get lost in the music and absorb the movie as if she were in it herself.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her soul resonated joy, love and compassion, and her hugs could solve any kind of problem that would be brought to her for her wisdom. Ever the dedicated friend, Sue was a kind and compassionate, beautiful soul, always putting others before herself. She made everyone feel as if they were the most important person in the room, even a stranger was a friend after only spending a few hours in her presence. She was known to put a smile on many a face, and a song in people’s hearts, not to mention a good cook and terrific seamstress.

Survivors include her husband Paul Crowley, her two children, Erin Rose Crowley and Joseph Kiernan Crowley, her siblings Scott LaValley, and his wife Cheryl, and Stacey LaValley Lambert and her husband Donald, as well as many other nieces and nephews who knew her gentle smile and warm hugs, including her godchild Joshua, whom she guided his spiritual development with many heartfelt conversations, and her dogs, Ruby and Scarlett. She will be surrounded by her Rainbow Bridge dogs Dusty, Rocco, Greta and Simon as she enters her eternal life in Heaven.

A memorial service will be held on October 11, 2023 at 10:00am at the Immaculate Conception Church in Nashua, New Hampshire. A reception will immediately follow. A private burial service will be held later in the day. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St Jude’s Research Hospital in support of their efforts towards childhood cancer research.
