Charles “Chuck” Leighton Howe of Nashua, New Hampshire

November 20, 1956 – November 2, 2024

Charles “Chuck” Leighton Howe, 67, of Nashua, NH passed away on Saturday morning in his home, November 2, 2024, after a valiant battle with Bulbar ALS.

Chuck was born on November 20, 1956, in Lowell, Massachusetts. His family moved around throughout his childhood, and they settled in Pelham, New Hampshire in his teenage years. Chuck met the love of his life, Dianne (Bisson), while working at Cousin’s Bakery. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Following his graduation, Chuck began his career as an engineer with Raytheon, where he worked for 40 years. During this time, he earned many accolades including an Excellence in Engineering and Technology in 2012, received in Washington, DC. Upon his retirement in 2017, he enjoyed the opportunity of running “Grampy Daycare”. Chuck loved being a husband and father, but he had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren.

He married Dianne in August of 1979 and the couple raised their family in Nashua, New Hampshire. Chuck was a true outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, ice fishing, hunting, riding his Harley, but most of all, hiking. Chuck’s hiking adventures included Mount Kilimanjaro, Machu Pichu, Patagonia, and the Alpine Mountains. He also completed multiple “Ride the Rockies”, 500-mile cycling races in the Colorado Rockies. Chuck made a point to travel to each of the 7 continents.

Chuck is survived by his mother, Carole Howe of Londonderry, NH; his beloved wife of 45 years, Dianne Howe; his children, Megan O’Neil and her husband Benjamin of Londonderry, NH, Dr. Caroline Howe of Orlando, FL, Timothy Howe-Nicks and his husband Colton of Jersey City, NJ, and Brian Howe and his wife Kelly of Nashua, NH; his grandchildren, Eliza, Stella, Owen, Layton; his brothers, David Howe and his wife Susan of Concord, NH, and Brian Howe and his wife Holly of Pelham, NH; many nieces, nephews, and cousins, several close friends and gym buddies, as well as his grand-dogs, Pumpkin, Spooky, and Liam, and grand-horses Millie and Anna-Mae. He was predeceased by his father, Charles Howe of Titusville, FL.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, November 12th, from 4 to 7pm, at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. A Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, at 11am, at the funeral home. Burial will be private for the family.
