Nancy R. Meyer
Nancy R. Meyer, 78, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at her home in The Huntington.
Nancy was born in Elmhurst, IL on May 11, 1946, and was the daughter of the late Walter William and Ruth Maude (Wachs) Meyer.
Nancy was proud to have served her country in the U.S Army during the Vietnam War Era. She served in the Army Nurse Corps during her active duty at Fort Devens, MA. Following her active duty, she spent many years in the Army Reserves.
Nancy attended Presbyterian/St Luke’s Nursing School in Chicago to become an RN and then continued her education at the University of Washington, Seattle for her undergraduate degree. She went on for her master’s degree at Wayne State University in Detroit. A second and equally important avenue she pursued in adulthood was becoming ordained as a Deacon in the Episcopal Church, which she achieved in January of 2008. She attended and served at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Chicago for many years before moving to Nashua and becoming Deacon at the Church of the Good Shepherd.
In her free time, Nancy loved to knit scarves and hats to give to the homeless, as well as distributing pocket prayer squares for anyone who wanted one. She enjoyed reading and studying the Bible and Theology. Nancy had a passion for singing and joined and participated in the hand bell choir at The Huntington. She also cherished the moments she was able to look out her window, reflecting on the beauty of nature, particularly the trees outside her apartment. Nancy had two special-needs cats, Flip Flop and Piper, whom she loved deeply.
She will be missed by all who had the opportunity to know her.
Nancy is survived by her two siblings, James Meyer and his wife Patricia of North Springfield, VT; Christine Meyer of Arlington, VT; her niece Kimberly Meyer and her husband John, as well as their children, Austin (wife, Jessica), Dylan (wife Chloe), and Benjamin.
