Stephen Kolesnik Jr.
Stephen Kolesnik Jr., 97, of Nashua, NH, passed away on December 1, 2024. He was born on February 28, 1927, in Winchester, MA, to the late Stephen Kolesnik and Ella May (Gerrior) Kolesnik.
At nearly 18, Stephen proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, serving during World War II as a Fireman Second Class. Following his honorable discharge in August 1946, he was later awarded the World War II Victory Medal, the American Theater Medal, and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal in recognition of his service.
Stephen dedicated 28 years of his career as a mechanic with the Boston and Maine Railroad. Beyond his professional achievements, he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hiking, fishing, hunting, and walking–frequently covering more than 30 miles a week. A skilled and enthusiastic hunter, Stephen hunted his first deer at the age of 15 and continued the tradition each hunting season. He was a life member of the Horse Pond Fish and Game Club, where he participated in numerous fishing derbies.
In addition to his parents, Stephen is predeceased by his wife, Lillie Ellen (Anderson) Kolesnik, his brother and sister, and his longtime companion, Priscilla Sherman.
SERVICES: A graveside service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 1:30 pm at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH 03303. Family and friends are invited to gather at the cemetery office at 1:20 pm.
