David Bruce Douzanis
David Bruce Douzanis, 74, of York Beach, Maine, passed away on December 22, 2024. Born in Nashua, NH, on April 25, 1950, he was the youngest son of Edward A. and Theresa P. (LaFleur) Douzanis.
David grew up in Nashua, where he attended local schools and graduated from Nashua High School in 1970. He later attended Chamberlain Junior College in Boston.
At the age of 24, David was elected to the New Hampshire House of Representatives, becoming the youngest legislator ever elected in his district–a distinction he took great pride in.
In 1976, David married Bette Rhodes, and together they enjoyed 48 years of marriage in York Beach, Maine. During his early years in York Beach, David joined the York Beach Fire Department, continuing a family tradition of community service. Before his health declined, David was an avid runner and enjoyed spending time on the golf course.
David is survived by his wife, Bette (Rhodes) Douzanis; his daughter, Nancy Mather; his grandchildren, Brendan and Maddie Mather; his brother, Arthur Douzanis and his wife, Margaret, of Nashua, NH; his nieces and nephews: Edward, Jeff, Patrick, and Christopher Madigan; Maria Keating; Jen Blaine; James, Andrew, and Don Douzanis; and Lori Jarry. He is predeceased by his parents, Edward and Theresa Douzanis; his brothers, Donald and Gregory; and his sister, Elaine Guest.
Per David’s wishes, no formal services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or another organization supporting dementia research.
