Lorraine Clark Elwood
Lorraine Clark Elwood, 96, died December 20, 2024 surrounded by family, friends and loved ones. Lorraine Rose Clark was born November 8, 1928 to Jesse and Grover Clark whose family lived throughout Southern Vermont. The young family moved to Hillsboro, NH area where they raised four other children.
Lorraine spent her childhood enjoying an outdoor lifestyle with her siblings. Most especially her twin sister, Priscilla. She was educated at Hillsboro High School and through family and friends met the wonderful man who would become her husband and lifelong companion for forty-five years.
Quentin Elwood and Lorraine were married July 31, 1948 and moved to his family farm in Londonderry, NH where the young couple continued to grow apples at Orchard View Farms and over the years acquiring much acreage. Lorraine helped greatly on the farm in between having her four children. Linda Fiske of Somersworth, NH, Sharon Meir of Homosassa 71., Quentin Elwood Jr. of Merrimack, NH and Janet St. Jean of Londonderry, NH. Janet remained close by the family farm to assist her parents in later years.
Lorraine had many close friend and neighbors, always ready to lend a helping hand to a fellow farm wife. Lorraine had many outdoor interests, including gardening, canning, and yardwork. She also enjoyed reading, sewing, exercising, and socializing with neighbors. Quentin and Lorraine continued their fruit orchards for many decades, but eventually retired and remained in Londonderry and enjoyed a slower pace of life.
Lorraine was predeceased by Quentin in 1994; two sisters, Madeline Beech and Priscilla Harris and a brother, Russell Clark. Throughout the years, Lorraine has had many wonderful family, friends and caregivers who have greatly helped her remain in her beloved home. In 2017, due to declining health, Lorraine became a resident of the Inn at Deerfield. This exceptional ALF facility showed her much love and care over the next seven years. She was part of many travel adventures, both with the Inn and family.
In addition to her four children, Lorraine leaves behind her brother, Gordon Clark; sister-in-law, Barbara Clark of West Deering, NH and sister-in-law, Tracy Clark of Concord, NH. Lorraine had nine wonderful grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren who adored her. Lorraine lived a full and family-oriented life and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A Funeral service for Lorraine will be held Friday, December 27, 2024 from 12:00pm to 12:30pm at Davis Funeral Home, 1 Lock Street, Nashua, NH 03064, followed by a burial at 1:00pm at the Edgewood Cemetery at 107 Amherst Street, Nashua, NH 03064.
