Ellen Artley

Jan 10, 2025

Ellen was called home to be with the Lord as she passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on December 31, 2024.

Ellen was born in Somerville, MA on June 29, 1953. She grew up in Lowell, MA and Scranton, PA before settling in Nashua. Ellen attempted to relocate to places that were warm and sunny year round , but due to her love for Nashua and all the people in it, she always came back.

Her work ethic was fierce. Ellen’s compassion for others overflowed as did her hospitality and generosity. Although not a woman of means, she shared what she had with those in need. Ellen was a STRONG, single mother and a force to be reckoned with.

Ellen’s career involved working long hours in the old factories that are now Clocktower Place before landing a job as an inspector for the Nashua Housing Authority. This was a job she absolutely loved and thrived in for many years as she served her community relentlessly.

Ellen’s legacy is that of LOVE and friendship. She is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Marie Artley, her sisters Jean Searles, and Carol Grant. Ellen is survived by her sisters Denise Ring and Andrea Silva, her children, Shantell Artley, Ameia Williams, Shernelle Williams, JW and Rebecca Williams, Ricardo Diaz, Rafael Diaz III & Maria Diaz. She also leaves behind Nineteen grandchildren, Five great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.

A celebration of life will be held in Nashua the weekend of June 28-29, 2025 on what would have been her 72nd birthday, with location and exact date/time to be announced.
