Jack Allan Dutzy

Jan 10, 2025

Jack Allan Dutzy died unexpectedly at home on January 3, 2025, after a period of declining health. Born on December 3, 1943, in Riverside, California, Jack was the son of Natalie and Albert Dutzy. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sherry (Potje) Dutzy.

Jack grew up in Lansing, MI, but always had a twinkle in his eye reminding Sherry that he was born in California. He enjoyed being outdoors playing baseball and ice hockey and graduated from Resurrection High School.

Being a true Spartan fan from the age of 7, Jack chose to attend Michigan State University majoring in Physics. He qualified for MSU’s freshmen hockey team but after taking a few checks against the boards from aggressive and large Canadian players, and only weighing 130 pounds, he decided to give it up. Jack graduated in 1966 and was offered a job at Douglas Missile Systems working on the Manned Orbital Laboratory project at their Huntington Beach, CA location.

Jack met Sherry (Potje) Dutzy at Michigan State and married March 27, 1967. They moved to Nashua, NH in 1970 when Jack accepted a position at Sanders Information System.

Jack began in the computer industry while at MSU working in the computer department using IBM punch cards. From mainframes to distributed computing, desktops, networking, and software, Jack loved his work as VP of Sales & Marketing for various companies. Never the politician, Jack enjoyed building a team and meeting his goals. In 1997 he took time out from the industry. Looking to return a few years later, he discovered that employers were looking for 25-year-olds to fill the executive suite and he eased into early retirement.

Jack was a charmer. With his blue eyes, sly smile, and sense of humor he could make Sherry laugh even when they argued. He traveled extensively throughout the world for work and in his spare time took up skiing, tennis and golf. In later years what he enjoyed most was watching the Patriots play, often with his “greatest love”, Nikki, his cat, on his lap.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Natalie and Albert and his sister Darcy. He is survived by his loving family, Sherry, his beloved cats Nikki, Brady & Tyler, his sisters Becky & Amy, his brother John, brother-in-law Steve Potje, nephews Matt (Chloe) Nordstrom, nephews, Dustin and Dean Dutzy, and Michael Hopcian, niece, Marissa Hopcian, grandnieces Lexie, Emily, Chelsea and many cousins.

The family is grateful for the wonderful care he received from doctors, nurses and staff at Southern NH Medical Center and the entire team of support services that helped maintain his quality of life. Each person couldn’t have been kinder or more helpful. A special thank you goes to Dr. Patrick Nguyen, PCP, whose sunny personality and medical skill pulled Jack up when things were hard. Aetna Medicare was a constant source of support and much appreciated. Jack and Sherry often said, “We are two lucky ducks.”

SERVICES: Jack requested cremation. No services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Live and Let Live Farm, Inc. 20 Paradise Lane, Chichester, NH 03258. The Davis Funeral Home, 1 Lock St, Nashua, NH, has been placed in charge of arrangements. An online guestbook can be found at www.davisfuneralhomenh.com (603)883-3401 “ONE MEMORY LIGHTS ANOTHER”
