Robert George Blanchette
Robert George Blanchette, 87, a lifelong resident of Nashua, died peacefully on Monday, January 6, 2025 at Premier Nursing and Rehab after a long illness.
Robert was born in Nashua on February 17, 1937 and was the son of the late Roland and Cecile (Duhamel) Blanchette. He received his education in the Nashua School System and was a graduate of Nashua High School with the class of 1954. He also attended Nashua Business College and graduated in 1956.
He proudly served his country at Fort Eustis, VA in the United States Army during the Berlin Crisis until he was honorably discharged in 1962.
For his career he worked as a bookkeeper for various companies in Nashua including Maynard and Lesieur, Batesville Casket Company and International Paper Box. Robert also volunteered at Southern New Hampshire Hospital Coffee Shop for many years after his retirement.
Robert was a lifelong and dedicated parishioner of St. Louis de Gonzague Church. He would attend daily mass and then walked over to the Nashua Public Library where he would read as many newspapers as possible. He was also an avid sports fan and loved to talk about them. Robert enjoyed watching any game, whether hockey, basketball, baseball or football. He had the knowledge of various statistical information on any player at any given time. Above all, his most cherished time was spent with his family.
He is survived by his brother, Rene and his wife Lorraine (Beaulieu)Blanchette of Nashua; his three nieces, Laura Preston and her husband Jeff, Michelle Blanchette, and Louise Goulet and her husband Nathan. He is also survived by his great-nephew Jaden Preston and his two great-nieces, Brea Preston and Caroline Goulet.
The Blanchette family would like to thank all those who befriended Robert (Bob) and those who took care of him over the 15 years that he spent at Greenbriar Health now Premier Nursing and Rehab.
Relatives and friends are invited to Robert’s visitation on TUESDAY, January 14th from 9 until 9:30 AM at ROCHETTE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua. His Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM in St. Louis de Gonzague Church, 48 W Hollis Street. Interment and presentation of military honors to follow in St. Louis Cemetery, Nashua.
