Patricia Ann (McLlarky) Groves

Patricia Ann (McLlarky) Groves peacefully passed in the Villages, Florida, on November 26th following a period of illness. Pat was born in Bourne Massachusetts on Otis Air Force Base to C. Michael McLlarky and Nancy Ann (Palm) McLlarky.

Pat grew up in Pelham, NH, and graduated from Alvirne High School of Hudson, Class of ’72. Pat attended Brigham Young University, then transferred to and graduated from Keene State College, Class of ’76.

Pat married her high school sweetheart, Bob Groves of Hudson, NH, and they recently celebrated their 49th anniversary. After spending 20 years as an at-home mom, Pat was accepted into a graduate program, attending Leslie University of Cambridge, MA, at the Cape Cod annex. She graduated, receiving a master’s degree in clinical Mental Health and attaining her License in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in Massachusetts. Pat worked 15 years as a counselor to women and children victims of sexual assault on Cape Cod. Whether through her work or just through her associations in life, Pat was always someone who understood the needs of others and offered compassionate care.

Pat was pre-deceased by her parents, Mike and Nancy, and her eldest son David Groves who unexpectedly passed one month earlier on October 15th. She is survived by her husband Bob Groves of the Villages Florida, her children, Daniel Groves and his wife Neha of Richfield Utah, Brian Groves and his wife Nicole of Reisterstown Maryland, Katherine McCann and her husband Erik of Litchfield New Hampshire, Laura Mills and her husband Drew of Litchfield New Hampshire, Michael Groves and his wife Anna of Lehi Utah, and her beloved 13 grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Casey Graf and her husband Bill of Maryland, Les McLlarky and his wife Barbara of Connecticut, and Bruce McLlarky and his wife Donna of New Hampshire, and many nieces and nephews.

Pats greatest love was her family. When she wasn’t spending time with them she enjoyed making quilts and knitting blankets for them and the babies that graced their lives.

A life dream of Pats was to travel to Europe, and that was realized when she, along with her sweetheart, toured England, Scottland, and Whales in 2017, and then Italy in 2019.

The family plans to have a celebration of life for both Pat and David next summer at a previously planned 50th wedding anniversary and family reunion in Litchfield New Hampshire. The Groves family plot will be in the Hills Farm Cemetery in Hudson New Hampshire.
