Allen Guy Tarbox Jr.
January 13, 2025 – Nashua, NH
Allen Guy Tarbox Jr., 90, of Nashua, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 13, 2025.
Born the son of Allen Guy Tarbox Sr. and Irene (Haley) Tarbox, Allen led a rich and adventurous life. He was raised in the Fens section of Boston and later moved to Maine, where he attended a one-room schoolhouse while his father served in the Philippines during World War II. After the war, Allen and his family returned to Boston, where he graduated from the prestigious Boston Latin School. He maintained strong ties to his Maine relatives and frequently visited the family farm in Hollis, Maine, throughout his life.
Allen went on to graduate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with a degree in Aerospace Engineering. Shortly after graduating, he married the love of his life, Betty Jane (Normandie) Tarbox, on November 26, 1955. Together, they had two sons.
A month after their wedding, Allen enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served as a jet pilot for eight years. After his military service ended in 1963, Allen and Betty raised their family in Burlington, Massachusetts, where they were active members of the community. He instilled in his children a love for sports, particularly skiing, and was deeply involved in local activities. Allen himself was an avid softball pitcher and golfer, competing annually in golf tournaments with a close-knit group of friends.
Eventually they moved to Nashua, NH. After retiring as Vice President of Information Technology at Bank of New Hampshire, they enjoyed traveling the world together. Allen continued to cherish his memories of travel after Betty’s passing.
Allen is survived by his two sons, Steve and his wife Candy, and Pete; five grandchildren, Melissa, Christine, Rachel, Zachary, and Becky; and two great-grandchildren, Gage and Connor.
