Leona A. Belanger

Leona A. Belanger, age 96, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack. She was the wife of the late Raymond V. Belanger.

Leona was born on May 19, 1928, in Nashua, NH and is the daughter of the late Emile and Marie Rose (Nadeau) Asselin.

Leona was employed in the Nashua Shoe Factory for many years. She then started her family which proudly grew to a joyous bundle of seven children. Leona lovingly and effortlessly excelled in her role as a homemaker. During that time, she also volunteered as a Teacher’s Aide in the Nashua School System.

In her free time, she enjoyed spending time knitting, sewing, and baking. She was an active member of Infant Jesus Church as a singer in the choir. Leona’s time as a member of Joyful Notes was her all-time favorite. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time traveling with friends. Most of all, Leona cherished the time spent with her family.

Leona is survived by her seven children; Gloria McAndrew of Merrimack, Paul Belanger and his wife Theresa of Nashua, Victor Belanger and his wife Linda of Nashua, Claire Thibault and her husband Mike of Hudson, Leo Belanger of Nashua, Joe Belanger and his wife Suzanne of Nashua, and Ron Belanger of Nashua; nine grandchildren, Tim, Michelle, Heather, Jason, Andrew, Aaron, Alex, Kevin and Keith; eleven great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Annette Asselin of Nashua; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Leona was predeceased by her grandson, Eddie Belanger and her siblings, Raymond, Rosario, Roger, Germaine, Theresa, and Rita.

Family and friends are invited to Leona’s funeral mass on FRIDAY, January 31st at 10 AM at Infant Jesus Church/Saint John XXIII Parish, 121 Allds Street, Nashua. Interment will follow at St. Louis Cemetery, 752 West Hollis Street, Nashua.
