David Edmund Goddard

Date — Sunday, January 26, 2025

David Edmund “Dave” Goddard (87) died on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at Autumn Care of Cornelius in Cornelius, North Carolina. He was born on November, 26 1937 in Alston, MA, son of Harvey Albert Goddard and Eileen Esther Mulligan Goddard, and was married to the late Elizabeth Ann “Liz” Goddard for 59 years. They lived most of their life in Nashua where they raised their family.

Dave was a devoted husband, father, friend, and “grampy.” Most of all, Dave adored his “Lizzy.” He brought warmth and laughter to every conversation with jokes, stories, or one of his signature catchphrases, “How’s your onion?”.

He was a lifelong Red Sox fan from the first time a young Dave scaled the back fence at Braves Field to catch a weekend matinee. He also loved a good book, meal, and glass of wine — preferably by the pool or with a view of the beach.

Dave is survived by…

Four children and their spouses: Karen Goddard of Key West, Mark Goddard and wife Julie of North Carolina, Beth Murphy and husband Jim of Londonderry, and Brian Goddard and wife Joan of Maryland; Five grandchildren and spouses: Keara Sexton of California; Lee Sexton of California; Liam Goddard and wife Kelly of North Carolina, Scott Murphy and wife Lauren of Auburn, and Shayla Murphy and husband Brian of Massachusetts; And five great grandchildren: Bailey Goddard and Riley Goddard of North Carolina; Mabel Murphy of Auburn; and Sampson Moore and Oliver Moore of Massachusetts.

David will be buried with Elizabeth at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Roxbury, MA in the spring, followed by a Celebration of Life in NH. In Dave’s memory, please consider donating to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
